CUANDO UN AMIGO SE VA… (homenaje a un amigo)

“Cuando un amigo se va…

queda un tizón encendido

que no lo puede apagar

ni con las aguas de un río.” (1)

Después de un largo, extraordinario y súper fecundo trecho de tu camino, llegó el momento de tu partida… Hace ya un tiempo, tuve el honor de conocerte: un hombre enjuto y menudo, de mirada vívida, sonrisa casi perpetua y de una gigantesca educación. Departíamos de diversos temas…, unas veces solos y otras veces con mucha más gente, tanto residentes del pueblo, como foráneos. Te confesaré que estas charlas, todos en círculo, las disfrutaba mucho. 

“La barca del dios Anubis, este dios psicopompo, se ha detenido cerca de ti, en la orilla derecha del Nilo. Te ha sonreído y ha extendido su brazo para que cojas su mano para ayudarte a subir a su barca que te llevará a la orilla occidental; la orilla donde el sol se pone eternamente. Ahí vas tú, junto con el dios Anubis en la proa de su barca celestial que llega a la orilla occidental. Allí estarán esperándote las dos diosas y hermanas, Isis y Nefthis. Ellas, junto con Anubis te llevarán junto a los 42 dioses sedentes, y seguro que te dejarán pasar para el pesaje de tu corazón en la balanza del dios Thot; el dios de la escritura y de la sabiduría.

Pesarán tu corazón que estará en un platillo de la balanza, y en el otro platillo estará la pluma de Maat. Y la balanza NO ser moverá; no se desequilibrará; porque fuiste siempre un hombre BUENO. Un hombre de una honradez y bondad infinitas. Después, el mismo Anubis te llevará ante Osiris, el dios que rige la Eternidad. Él está también acompañado de sus hermanas Isis y Nefthis. Te sonreirá mirándote a tus ojos y dará orden de que se abran las puertas de los Campos de Iaru… Los campos de la Eternidad. Y en tu viaje, te convertirás en un Ankh; en una estrella muy brillante e inmortal que se situará junto a las otras estrellas circumpolares inmortales brillando por toda la Eternidad.”

Siempre, siempre… estarás en nuestro corazón.

WHEN A FRIEND LEAVES…

“When a friend leaves…

a burning ember remains

that cannot be extinguished

not even with the waters of a river…” (1)

After a long, extraordinary and extremely fruitful stretch of your journey, the time has come for you to leave… Some time ago, I had the honour of meeting you: a lean and small man, with a lively look, an almost perpetual smile and a gigantic education. We talked about various topics… sometimes alone and many times with other people, both residents of the town and outsiders. I will confess that I enjoyed these conversations, all in a circle, very much.

“The boat of the god Anubis, this psychopomp god, has stopped near you, on the right bank of the Nile. He has smiled at you and has extended his arm so that you can take his hand to help you get on his boat that will take you to the western bank; the bank where the sun sets eternally. There you go, together with the god Anubis on the prow of his celestial boat that reaches the western shore. There, the two goddesses and sisters, Isis and Nephthis, will be waiting for you. They, together with Anubis, will take you to the 42 seated gods, and they will surely let you pass to have your heart weighed on the scales of the god Thot; the god of writing and wisdom.

They will weigh your heart, which will be on one side of the scale, and on the other side will be the feather of Maat. And the scales will NOT move; they will not be unbalanced; because you were always a GOOD man. A man of infinite honesty and goodness. Afterwards, Anubis himself will take you to Osiris, the god who rules Eternity… He is also accompanied by his sisters Isis and Nephthis. He will smile at you, looking into your eyes, and will give the order to open the doors of the Fields of Iaru… The fields of Eternity. And on your journey, you will become an Ankh; a very bright immortal star that will stand alongside the other immortal circumpolar stars shining for all Eternity.”

Always, always… you will be in our hearts.
